The only problem I had was implementing the logo image and wrapper background. I just don’t know what to do.. They won’t show up at all. I have the other images (ex. header, footer, and bodybg) but just not those two. :(

I am a developer who has been asked to redesign 3 sites into 1. I have minimal experience in design and I am browsing the web for the guidelines that I intuitively feel play out in well-designed, easy-to-use sites. Your post helped me identify some of those guidelines. Thank you.

'Feature creep' - good term, and a predicament that we try to avoid by getting functional specs as tight as possible. Once the client signs that off, we're under absolutely no obligation to add any extra features to a project that will push the dev time up.

Funnily enough, we're in that exact same stage at the moment.

The site was supposed to launch yesterday, then today. Now it's due for next week.

Feature creep is the worst issue, with it becoming much more difficult to complete current tasks to a high standard when the client is sending a load more amends through, with little thought about agreed time or budget.

Alas, the site should be launching next week (fingers crossed) and I cannot wait to unleash it upon you all.

It's a fucking beauty, and not just because I built it (well, partly).

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the link. However, the email wasn't unsolicited - we sent that to everyone who signed up for the reminder on http://buyafuckingshovel.com/. You probably signed up way back in December 2010.

Cheers

Branding is something not a lot of small business operators think about but reputations have a lot to do with branding. When you have a small business the best advertising is usually word of mouth but before someone gets to know you they have to know you! That is where branding comes in. It doesn't have to be expensive but you must use your creativity.
